The Many Faces of Robert Wheat

As most of you know Robert has been busy studying and taking tests to get his CPA license for most of last year and this year. He took his first test last November and his last test in January. Now we have just been waiting for the results. November was also the last time he cut his hair, and he had vowed not to cut his hair until he passed all four tests. A couple weeks ago he made another commitment not to shave (his goatee) until he got the results back for all four tests. The following is what Robert has looked like.

That's right. Now Robert is a clean shaven , well-groomed CPA! (well, almost, he still needs to do a couple more general application stuff to actually get his license. And yes, he did go out in public with his mustache, for a couple days actually.)

Latest Bike Ride

Some photos from my latest bike ride. I went with Steve and Wendy on Presidents' Day down to Huntington Beach (we drove there, then rode our bikes along the beach path). Robert didn't get to come because he was working. Poor Robert, it's now accounting busy season and he hasn't done much else but work recently.

Happy Valentines Day!

I was tagged by Emily a few weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the pictures she used with her tag so I am going to base my six facts on pictures from when I was young.
1. I liked rocks. I still like rocks. My family went on a hike when I was little and this is how I ended the hike, with a bag full of pretty rocks that I had collected to take home with me. It's fascinating to think of how they were formed and how old may be.2. I am not very coordinated and I don't consider myself a very good dancer, but I have always loved ethnic dances. 3. I love to travel. I'm very very excited for our Peru trip summer.
4. I used to love winter for this very reason, we got to play in the snow. We used to make trails all over our backyard in the snow with little pullout rest stops along the trails. Then we would play a pac-manish game and chase each other around the trails . The rest stops were safe. Now the snow is pretty, but not so much fun to play in.

5,6. Okay, the last two aren't me, but they portray Robert in two out of character ways so I couldn't resist adding them. The first is Robert on his mission, with a PART in his hair! Even in the rest of his mission pictures he usually kept his hair too short to do a part. The second is Robert in his thug stage (with the bling, not to be confused with his bro. Kevin). I love you Robert!

Topanga State Park

Robert and I went hiking in Topanga State Park over the weekend, which is just north of Santa Monica (actually, I think it is in L.A. city limits still).

The Nature Pictures

It almost feels like you're out of the city. Almost. And it's a little hard to think of it as hiking when we are on dirt fire roads half of the time and it feels like we're just beyond someone's backyard. But it sure beats sitting at home.

A Tribute to President Hinckley

Now, in conclusion, I hope that all of you will remember that on this Sabbath day you heard me bear my witness that this is God’s holy work. The vision given the Prophet Joseph in the grove of Palmyra was not an imaginary thing. It was real. It occurred in the broad light of day. Both the Father and the Son spoke to the boy. He saw Them standing in the air above him. He heard Their voices. He gave heed to Their instruction.

It was the resurrected Lord who was introduced by His Father, the great God of the universe. For the first time in recorded history, both the Father and the Son appeared together to part the
curtains and open this, the last and final dispensation, the dispensation of the fullness of times.

The Book of Mormon is all that it purports to be—a work recorded by prophets who lived anciently and whose words have come forth “to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations” (Book of Mormon title page). The priesthood has been restored under the hands of John theBaptist and Peter, James, and John. All the keys and authority pertaining to eternal life are exercised in this Church. Joseph Smith was and is a prophet, the great Prophet of this dispensation. This Church, which carries the name of the Redeemer, is true. I leave you my testimony, my witness, and my love for each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
