Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great time hosting a small Thanksgiving at our home this year. Since everyone helped with the cooking, it was much less work than packing up the four of us and travelling some where.

Mom and Dad Wheat came in the day before Thanksgiving and we had a Thanksgiving FHE that evening.

On Thanksgiving morning we headed up to a trail by the hills in Claremont and ran our own Wheat Family 5K Turkey Trot.

Julia insisted on running until she was tired at the beginning and at the end. She ran about 200 yards with her Grandma Wheat at the beginning and then got back into the jogging stroller for the rest. After we stopped for a few minutes at the park she was ready to go again, for another 200 yards.

Soon after we got back Steve, Wendy, Daniel, and Amanda arrived. Wendy brought stuff to make candy turkeys and they made turkeys outside (or ate candy while Wendy made turkeys).

Viewing the finished product. Oreos, candy corn, Whoppers and Reese's, they were the most delicious turkeys I've ever eaten..

Then it was time to eat. Steve contributed by carving the turkey.

Julia was happy to eat with her princess plate.

Micah was suppose to spend his first Thanksgiving in his high chair.

But spent the meal on my lap instead

Or getting passed around with everyone else

This kid cannot take a bad picture.

Robert and Dad spent the rest of the weekend crawling through our attic and crawl spaces to get the wiring ready for our bathroom remodel and adding more outlets to the upstairs bedrooms in our 1950's house. Yay for not having to crawl under the crib to get to an outlet!

On Friday morning Robert and I went to a few stores for Black Friday shopping, with no kids! It felt like we were on a date because we actually got to talk to each other. That night we got out the Christmas tree to officially kick off the Christmas season.

Micah Update

There is really no reason for this post besides me wanting to talk about Micah. He is such a cutie! He has been changing so fast this month. Last month his new trick was to sit up, but now he's going crazy learning to be mobile. He mostly likes to roll all over the room, but he's starting to reluctantly creep forward.  Reluctantly because he only does it when he really has to to get something he wants.

He has two teeth coming in and I'm sure many more coming soon. He likes to bite his lip, and occasionally me. He's not the best sleeper, something we are trying to work on this week. Here's hoping he can sleep through the night soon.

Here's a couple videos from the past couple days:

Halloween

We kept busy all day on Halloween without ever feeling rushed or too worn out, so I would say it was a successful Halloween. We started out our day by going to Julia's soccer, which I already blogged about. Afterwards we came home and while Micah napped Julia and I had a Halloween lunch outside on the patio. It was a perfect day for spending time outside.

Then we met up with some friends at the park like we do most Wednesdays  Afterwards we came back home and got ready for trick or treating at The Claremont Village. The Village stores pass out candy every year and this year was packed! We went a few years ago before we moved but it must have been right at the beginning because I don't remember it bring crowded at all. This time we went near the end and there were a ton of people. Lesson learned for next time, come early.

Julia didn't mind though; she loved seeing all the costumes and being part of the excitement. Micah sat in the stroller and took it all in too. He is such an angel baby when we go places in the stroller, just content to watch and be cute. He got a lot of "A little Pooh Bear! How cute!" Every time I would poke my head in front of the stroller to check on him he would get a huge grin from seeing me.

Once we were done trick or treating at The Village we went home for dinner and to met up with Robert before going around our neighborhood. Micah and I went to a couple houses before retreating back to our house to get Micah to sleep and to pass out candy while Julia got some daddy/daughter time with Robert. Unfortunately with all the people coming I never did get Micah to sleep until Robert and Julia came home an hour later. Needless to say, once they both got into bed they were out like a light five minutes later.

Julia's Soccer

The kids got to bring their Halloween costumes on Halloween and take a team pictures
Yesterday was Halloween, but it also so happens to have been the last day of Julia's soccer class. This was the first time she has done a class that didn't involve my participation as well and there was a bit of a learning curve for her. After the first very successful class, she started having a hard time listening to what the coach was telling her to do. She wanted to just run around and do what she wanted. After a couple classes, some talks about how important it is to listen to her coach, and a promise of suckers after class she started doing better. By the end she was the perfect little soccer player.

Telling something really interesting to her coach. I wonder what it was.
The program is designed to introduced kids to fitness and soccer by making it fun. So they mix in games to get them moving along with soccer techniques. The kids all loved it and her coach was fantastic and so energetic.
They did the parachute a couple times and the parents helped out.

Some actual soccer.

And here are a couple videos. Julia says now she wants to try dance so I guess we'll be taking a break from soccer, but I wouldn't mind her doing it again.
